Privacy policy
Save Point Shop is a retro video game and trading card shop in Norfolk County, Ontario. This page explains what personal information this website collects, why, what happens to it, and how to get it removed.
The short version: the only information we hold is what you send us through one of the three forms on this site. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and nothing is ever sold or shared for marketing.
What we collect, and only when you send it
If you ask for a quote on your collection, the form asks for your name, your email address and a description of what you’re selling. Everything else is optional: your phone number, your town, whether you’re looking to sell outright or consign, the category, how you’d like to sell, the overall condition, what you’re hoping to get for it, and up to eight photos.
If you send a message through the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, an optional item or order number, and your message.
If you sign up for stock updates, we receive your email address and a note of which page you signed up from.
That is the complete list. We do not ask for, and have no way to receive, payment details — there is no checkout on this website. Buying happens on eBay, under eBay’s own terms and privacy policy.
What we do with it
We use what you send to answer you: to price a collection, reply to a question, or tell you when stock lands. We don’t use it for anything else.
Quote requests and messages are stored in this website’s database and emailed to us at info@savepointshop.ca so we don’t miss one. Photos you upload are stored on the website’s server in a folder that is blocked from public access — they can only be viewed by signing in to the site’s admin.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share it with anyone for marketing. We don’t build a profile on you, and we have no advertising relationships of any kind.
What we don’t do
This site has no analytics — no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no heatmaps, no visitor tracking of any kind.
It sets no cookies for ordinary visitors. (Signing in to the admin sets WordPress’s own login cookies, which applies to us, not to you.)
Fonts are served from this website’s own server, not from Google Fonts or any other font service, so loading a page doesn’t reveal your visit to a third party.
Your IP address
When a form is submitted, we check the sending IP address against a short-term counter to stop automated spam. That check stores a one-way scrambled version of the address — not the address itself — and it is discarded automatically after one hour. It is never stored alongside your enquiry and we cannot work backwards from it to you.
There is also a spam check on each form. The quote form and the contact form ask you a short arithmetic question before they will send; the newsletter box answers the same question in your browser, so you never see it. Either way the check runs entirely on this website — there is no reCAPTCHA, no Turnstile and no other outside service involved, nothing is loaded from anyone else’s server, and no record of your answer is kept.
If a submission is turned away — a wrong answer, or a missing detail — what you had typed is held on this website for twenty minutes so the form can hand it straight back to you rather than making you start again. It is held under a single-use reference, it is deleted the moment the form is redisplayed, and it expires by itself if you never come back.
How long we keep things
Quote requests, their photos, and contact messages are deleted after 12 months. This happens automatically — the site runs a scheduled job that removes them, the photos included. You don’t have to ask.
Newsletter signups are kept until you ask to come off the list, because that’s the only thing the list is for. Reply to any email we send, or write to us, and you’re off it.
If you’d like anything removed sooner, just ask — see below.
Who can see it
Access is limited to the people who run Save Point Shop. Nobody else is given access to quote requests, messages, or the mailing list.
Two companies handle the information in the course of keeping the site running:
- Hostinger, which hosts this website and its database, and
- the mail service on our web host that delivers our email.
They process it on our behalf in order to provide those services. We don’t send your information anywhere else.
Links to other sites
This site links to our eBay store and our Poshmark and Whatnot listings, and to our social accounts. Those are separate companies with their own privacy policies, and anything you do once you land there is covered by theirs, not this one.
Your rights
Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you,
- correct it if it’s wrong,
- delete it, or
- stop using it.
Email info@savepointshop.ca and we’ll do it. There’s no form and no charge. We’ll confirm once it’s done.
If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled a privacy question, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Children
This site isn’t aimed at children and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and we’ll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects information we already hold, we’ll say so here rather than quietly editing the page.
